John J. Kotlarczyk is a Principal with Houlihan Valuation Advisors, a national firm of valuation and capital consultants. John’s professional background includes a number of senior executive and financial management positions in manufacturing, distribution and service companies with profit/loss responsibilities. John is a former Audit Manager with price Waterhouse, receiving his CPA certificate in 1971. In 1999, John earned his Accredited in Business Valuation (“ABV”) designation from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Since leaving public accounting in 1975, John has served as Vice President/Finance and Administration for Cenco, Inc. (manufacturing & distribution), ATM Network Management Corporation (data processing services), Atlas Van Lines (moving and storage) and Overland Express (trucking). He has directed acquisitions of major service companies and completed a $70 million leveraged buy-out, taking a publicly traded American Stock Exchange Company to private ownership. At Overland Express, under John’s financial leadership the Company negotiated debt refinancings, and increased working capital by $32 million while cutting expenses by 30.0%. Since 1998, John has consulted directly to many public and private companies, usually in areas of financial analysis, inventory and asset managements, and financial reporting.
He has written two articles in the Matrimonial Strategist and co-authored a chapter in the Handbook of Business Valuation. He also teaches business valuation and other subjects to CPAs and attorneys.
John is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the American Society of Appraisers. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Illinois. He and his wife, Chris, have two sons, both college graduates. The family resides in Carmel, Indiana, where they are active members of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel parish.
